With over 35 years of experience in the computer industry, Principal Consultant, and IDE President, Philip M. Carrillo brings a wealth of technical expertise and problem solving skills to our clients.

Starting out as a hardware designer of computer interfaces, Mr. Carrillo delivered a number of technically challenging products including computer networking devices and high quality digital/ analog data acquisition systems.

Extending his expertise into the software world, Mr. Carrillo began by designing machine language code and simple real-time operating systems for microprocessor based equipment. For the last 20 years, Mr. Carrillo has been working with data, building a number of database systems and applications to meet a wide variety of client needs.

Highlights of Mr. Carrillo's work with databases include development of a national database of postal redirection information, development of custom built CRM system for two major automobile manufactures, a custom web based project tracking system for a chamber of commerce of a large US city, as well as a number of custom web applications that required significant database functionality. Each of these projects had a significant component of database design, data cleansing, data induction and data matching. More importantly, these projects were developed in an environment of constantly changing business requirements. Mr. Carrillo's skills in understanding the client's business and translating these needs to technical implementation was a key component in the success of these projects.

Outside of the development lab, Mr. Carrillo has been a co-founder of two high tech companies, serving as a director and a key member of several management teams. Mr. Carrillo has also been an active member of his community and has volunteered his technical services to his local community association as well as spending many hours volunteering his time to minor hockey.

This unique combination of technical and business experience gives Mr. Carrillo a different perspective than most developers as he likes to let the business requirements drive the technology, whereas many projects founder by trying to let technology run the show.

Mr. Carrillo is a graduate of McGill University of Montreal holding a Bachelor Degree in Engineering.
